Software Application Engineer

This position requires working directly with customers to help them install, configure and use Informetric software.  The responsibilities include designing, developing and releasing software products, working with customers to determine their needs and requirements, designing and implementing new product features, modifying existing software to fix problems and improve performance, overseeing installations of software systems, and software testing to ensure that Informetric products work properly and reliably.  Engineers are also involved in database design and SQL programming, report configuration and documents generation, Web design and implementation, software maintenance and technical support.

  • Determine and document customer requirements
  • Design, develop, and implement new product features
  • Modify existing software to fix problems, and improve usability and performance
  • Test, validate, and release software
  • Integrate Informetric software with customer manufacturing and business systems
  • Install and configure new or existing customers’ systems
  • Maintain existing software
  • Provide technical support to existing customers
  • Visit customer sites
  • Conduct product training for users and partners
  • Assist the sales team at industry trade show and conference events
  • Support the sales team as a technical advisor
  • Contribute to team effort by working toward common goals

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1+ years relevant experience in software technology or engineering
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science or technical field
  • Must be able to present himself/herself in a professional manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as ability to understand, prepare, and communicate technical information to a wide range of audiences
  • Willingness to travel at least 30% (including International)

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with process automation systems such as Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell, Siemens, Wonderware and GE iFix
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Experience in GMP industries
  • Familiarity with a standard programming language (C++, C#, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Web technologies, XML, XSL, HTML, CSS, SQL
